On the eve of V-day! (Or ‘the pink chaddi’ day this time?)

Published by cannibal at 8:28 am under Mangalore Pub Incident Edit This

Well, the day is about to dawn! Indeed this year’s Valentine’s Day has been the most awaited one all these years. No prizes for guessing the reason. Yup, it’s the pink Chaddi campaign and the like.
The most interesting observation for me in the turn of events in the last few days is this: Like always, we have showered our generous abuses on those right winged fanaticos. This time too, we have said that these people are not really concerned with our contaminating culture; they do it more for vested interests; or in other words, for publicity and the heck of it. Fair enough! However, I hear that ‘social worker’, some lesser known Nisha Susan is being showered accolades upon for her ‘novel’ campaign.
I hate to repeat all this; but I will still persist doing it until I see signs of it reaping any positive changes. So again I ask, why is Miss/ Mrs. Susan not being targeted? Hasn’t she resorted to means of cheap publicity? Her campaign is utterly bizarre and absurd. True, Mangalore incident was unfortunate; but there were much better ways to revolt.
Without doubt, the pub attack should be condemned, by all means. After all, assaulting the fairer sex is grossly unpardonable in the very culture the moral police are claiming to protect. But there were many legal methods for Susan to let her voice be heard. Imagine what it would have been if the situation would have been the opposite. Obviously, the media would have gone gung-ho about the irresponsible behavior of the right winged extremists, and would have highlighted the publicity factor now and then. So why not a similar yardstick now? Or hail hypocrisy, yet again!
